About Us

METALWORLD has had a long and proud history in the Lowveld. From when the first branch was established in Barberton in 1961 under the name of Baldwins Steel, the company has evolved over the years to offer our customers an increasing range of products. Trading from our current premises in Nelspruit since 1986, the company first rebranded in 1999 and started trading as Baldwins Metalland, a franchise of Baldwins Steel. The company underwent another name change in 2010 and has since been trading independently under the Metalworld name.

Being an independently owned and managed company has also contributed to the success of the business as all decisions are made at branch level. This gives the sales experience a more personal feel and speeds up turnaround time. We have always focussed on achieving the highest levels of service and establishing lasting relationships with our customers first of all.

Over the years the company has diversified often to ensure that we stay ahead of the market curve. By shifting focus from the traditional steel and construction material to add products like hardware, palisades and roofing material we are confident that we can offer our customers a complete range of solutions as the preferred supplier of steel and allied products in the Lowveld. We only stock products of the highest quality and if there is something that we don’t have we will do our best to find it for you!

We have also emerged as leaders in the pipes and fittings market and can offer specialised advice in this regard. Stockists of a vast range of pipes, valves and fittings we can also source fabricated material in various finishes at highly competitive rates.

The latest complement to our range came in 2015 when we decided to enter into the fencing market and we are incredibly pleased with the success of these products since. The wire and fencing material will complement the already extensive range of products that we offer and we are excited to see the progress.

Our easy-access and conveniently located facility is complete with overhead cranes and excellent storage capabilities. This allows us to stock a wide variety of products under one roof, making us the preferred one-stop shop for steel, fencing, pipes and allied products in the Lowveld not only for industrial and commercial clients but the cash and COD market as well. This, along with our fleet of eight delivery vehicles, and a sales team that has numerous years of experience gives us the confidence that we can handle any enquiry – no matter how big or small – efficiently and at a competitive rate.
